Being an Orchestra: from I to We through music

Being an Orchestra – Stefano Baroni | Music Is The Key

A group is not an orchestra, but it can become one.

Being an Orchestra is the concept that captures the focus of my work: using music as an experience of listening, collaboration, and human potential development.

I use music as a platform for human potential development and learning, working with organizations, associations, communities, and institutions.
What I love most is creating the conditions for people to shift perspective and move from I to We.

A group is not yet an orchestra

Being together does not yet mean moving together. I can be competent, present, motivated, and still see everything only from the perspective of my own part.
That’s why the orchestra metaphor fascinates me: no one stops being themselves, every voice remains distinct, every instrument keeps its own timbre, and it is precisely in the relationship that something emerges that no one could create alone.

From I to We

In an orchestra, listening is not a passive gesture. It means continuing to bring your own voice while, at the same time, modifying what you are doing in relation to what is happening around you. It is a continuous balance between individual expression and collective responsibility, and it is precisely in this space that a group of people can begin to become something more than the sum of individual parts.
That’s where I’m interested in working: in the moment when people begin to listen to each other, adapt, make space, support one another, and take responsibility for what they are creating together.

What Being an Orchestra means

Being an Orchestra means remaining yourself while simultaneously making space to learn to think, feel, and act as We.
